Teacher Connection Circles

Many of us who are teachers or youth workers wish for a community of people who really share a holistic, soul-nourishing approach to education. If we envision a society based on caring and generosity, we should begin with ourselves and then turn to the young people whose lives we can influence.

The teacher connection circle has three main goals:

(1) create a setting where we can connect with our own deeper awareness and purpose

(2) find ways to support and encourage each other in practical ways where we work right now

(3) develop and share a vision for meaningful education that we can promote individually and as a group.

Our meetings begin with half an hour dedicated to spiritual exercises (relaxation, readings, music, and meditation). The rest is conversation on a particular theme, or on specific challenges we are facing. We create substantive, sincere conversation among a group of people who develop a sense of trust and deep collegial respect. It will take persistence and collective action for change to come about.
